Yesterday we started on a horrid project... repairing/replacing the wiring for the front sump and bilge pump and their float switches. Impossible access, dirty, smelly. Yuk. (No wonder I had been delaying it!)

Thought you may like to see the remains of the sump and bilge wiring blocks. I've seen corroded ones, but never blackened. We rerouted the original wiring to a new easily accesble single block for all 6 circuits. We will replace the wiring from the block to the front distribution blocks at a later date. For now it works.

While my head was stuck in a hole, I noticed the red canister to the starboard side of the sump. What could it be?

Looks like a high water alarm. Have you tried energizing it to see if it sounds an alarm?

That is your 3/4 full alarm for the holding tank.

The black may be neoprene paint a.k.a. "Liquid 'lectric Tape". It was not uncommon to paint it over terminal strips to help prevent corrosion.

Thanks. There is a seperate small black forward bilge level alarm switch above the sump tray ... its working and connected to the Systems Monitor alarm.

What Sky said..the red thing goes to the tube in the holding tank and illuminates the holding tank warning lights.
