Hey Guys,

I have the Original, Hull No. 1, 50MY, 1964. I am looking at replacing all 5 Cruisair units. They are all the split gas, and running R-22. Any suggestions on replacing just the compressor units with upgraded 410 Gas and still keep my fans and blowers? Is it even possible.

Thanks in advance

No. Do not use r 22 equipment for 410

Also you will need to clean or replace the tubing between the units. The refrigerants are not compatible.

R22 is still available. In fact the price came down a little this past year.

Do not want to seem like i am being over cautious. Forget that idea you will find your self replacing
the rest of the stuff shortly. Bight the bullet. I just replaced all 4 compressors, fans , evaporators. I did what you are thinking of doing. All winter leak after leak. I do not know why but they just kept leaking. It may have been because i cleaned them up. (the evaporators were full of junk..) The new ones are quiter and warmer and i hope cooler.

R417A is the drop in replacement for R22 (which is still available). I've seen others here recommend Aqua Air, or Ocean Air? as a replacement for the R type Cruisair units. I'm not familiar with their products but their website looks interesting.
