I am conducting some research on a 1960 41' CYF, Hull #9. After an extensive renovation the boat 8 years ago, she was put back into service as a charter fishing boat out of Orange Beach, Alabama.

The current owner has shared with me that he bought the boat in Destin Forida in 2001 prior to the renovation. Her name at that time was "The Cat and the Hat" and her owner rarely used her. I noticed doing some web searching that hull #9 was named "Sea Sprite" as well, at one point.

I am interested in any old photos and history of this boat.

Thanks very much,

Capt Dan

Hatteras might have some ownership information..also if the boat was or is documented the USCG website might have information.

I almost chimed in on this one too, Dan. As far as I know, Sea Sprite is still chartering out of Old Saybrook. He was in my yard in Clinton one winter many years ago, when I had my 41 TC, and we had a conversation or two.

I don't know her hull number but I know it's an early one. He told me that it was one of the first ones that diesels were put in. That's why he has two rather large exausts just off the centerline. He said Hatteras didn't know how big the exausts needed to be so they ran them down the inner stringers to fit the largest possible pipes in there.

Could be two Sea Sprinte 41's or mixed up older documents.

Happy Holidays!
